Cub Club

 

Welcome! The Cub Club is a volunteer group of parents whose mission is to connect and to involve parents, faculty and staff through the promotion of membership and volunteerism and to provide resources and services to enhance the University Laboratory School community. Throughout the year, Cub families participate in restaurant nights, scan their grocery receipts through the Box Tops program, and submit Community Coffee labels through the company’s school fundraising program. Your participation yields important funds that Cub Club uses to support the entire school community. Please feel welcome to reach out to a Cub Club officer if you have any questions about these programs.
 

Cub Club Committee Chairs

Communications Chair: Nicolette Ross

Care Team Leader: 

  • Receives information from ULS regarding members of the Cub Family that may have special needs. The Care Team then determines the need to move forward with assistance.

Room Mom Coordinator: 

  • Throughout the year this person is a communication liaison between administration and room parents.

Faculty/Staff Programs Chair: Whitney Sutherland

  • Vice Chair:  Bailey Laiche

Faculty Holiday Lunch: Rachael Feirman and Emily Melancon

  • Plans and coordinates the Holiday Lunch Party for all faculty and staff.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Christen Ward, Jenna Fristscher and Allison Byrd

  • Plans and coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week for all faculty and staff.

Faculty Staff Restroom Facilities: Lauren Ritchey

  • Checks the faculty/staff restrooms and replenishes as needed.

Retirement Party: Amy Craig

  • Plans and coordinates the retirement party for all faculty and staff retiring each year.

January Teacher Coffee Service: Barbie Berthelot

  • Plans and facilitates a coffee/breakfast service for all faculty and staff on their professional development day in January.

Fundraising Chair: Camille Brown

Used Uniform Sales: Casie Kobe                                          

  • Maintains the collection/organization of Used Uniforms throughout the year.  Plans and facilitates the Used Uniform Sales throughout the year.

Box Top/Community Coffee Program: Anne Schmidt

  • Sends out reminders, collects, and processes all box top and community coffee rewards throughout the year.

Merchandise: Kelley Buzzell and Jill Kindler                                                     

  • Maintains inventory and help organize/man tables at all Cub Club functions in order to sell merchandise.

Restaurant Nights: Amy Vann

  • Contact restaurants and plans events where restaurants will provide monetary portions of ULS sales to the Cub Club.

Membership Chair: Vicky Roy

Social: Matt and Lauren Valiollahi 

  • Plan social events such as Moms Night Out and Dads Night Out for Cub Club members.

Volunteer Coordinator: Kris Elmore                               

  • Maintains a list of all members interested in volunteering with Cub Club.  Helps create and organize sign-ups for volunteers.

Parent Programs Chair: Becky Ratcliff

New Student/Family Welcome Gifts: Becky Ratcliff and Melissa Jackson

  • Obtains names of new families to ULS throughout the year. Purchases welcome gifts for each new child and delivers the gift welcoming the child to ULS.

New Family Meet and Greet/Tours: Andriette Anderson

  • Organizes and facilitates new family tours for new families to ULS.

Field Trip Shirts: Kelly Viator

  • Orders, sorts, and delivers field trip shirts to each elementary classroom at the start of each school year.  

Thank you for your interest!No volunteer task is too big or too small; each effort contributes to the greater good of the University Laboratory School community. The various committees listed below are all great opportunities to support your child's school, become more familiar with the staff and parents, share ideas and have fun! Our volunteers assist with planning, coordination and implementation of each of these events and activities.
    • Box Tops – An easy, everyday way to earn cash for our school, one box top at a time
    • Care Team – Provides meals and other needs for ULS families in crisis 
    • Elementary Field Trip T-Shirts – The provision of grade specific field trip t-shirts to students
    • Faculty Lounge - Provide treats for teachers throughout the year
    • Faculty/Staff Coffee Truck – Provide free coffee to teachers when they return to school from winter break
    • Faculty/Staff Retirement Party – An event to honor faculty and staff retiring from ULS
    • Meet and Greet/ New Family Tour-An event that welcomes new families to ULS
    • Merchandise – A fundraising effort to support the school through the sales of merchandise
    • Parent Symposium – A speaker series offered twice a year on topics relevant to parents
    • New Family Welcome Bags – The provision of information and ULS merchandise to families new to ULS
    • Restaurant Nights – The coordination of fundraisers with local restaurants that host ULS nights and provide a portion of sales to Cub Club
    • Room Parent Coordinator - Communicates information to parents from faculty and staff
    • Social events – Activities throughout the year designed to foster community
    • Teacher Appreciation Week - An acknowledgement and a show of appreciation for the wonderful services provided to our students by our teachers
    • Used Uniform Sale – An opportunity for our parents to purge the old and pick up new slightly used uniforms at a fraction of the original price
