Trisha Fos Named Finalist for Prestigious Louisiana BESE Presidential Award

[Baton Rouge] — August 21, 2024 — The LSU Laboratory School proudly announces that 3rd grade instructor, Trisha Fos has been selected as a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding educators who have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing student achievement in mathematics and science.

Ms. Fos, a dedicated and innovative educator, has consistently gone above and beyond in her efforts to inspire students in the fields of math and science. Her approach to teaching combines rigorous academic standards with creative problem-solving techniques, making complex concepts accessible and engaging for all students. She fosters a deep understanding of math and science among her students and ignites a passion for these subjects that extends beyond the classroom.

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science is the highest honor a math or science teacher can receive in the United States. Ms. Fos now moves forward in the selection process, where the final recipients will be honored at a national ceremony in Washington, D.C. and will receive a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
