Maegan LaBorde Brown
Assistant Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction
Maegan LaBorde Brown brings nearly two decades of experience in education to her role as Elementary Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at University Laboratory School. She is currently completing her nineteenth year in education, including ten years in the elementary classroom and nine years in school leadership.
Maegan holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She has served as a Teacher Leader Advisor for the Louisiana Department of Education and was named a semifinalist for Principal of the Year.
A lifelong educator, Maegan comes from a family of educators and is deeply passionate about teaching and learning. She believes that teaching is one of the most challenging, creative, and rewarding professions and is committed to supporting teachers through strong instructional systems, meaningful coaching, and collaborative professional learning communities. Her work is grounded in the belief that when teachers grow, students thrive.
Maegan is especially passionate about building strong relationships with faculty, students, and families, and fostering a school culture rooted in trust, clarity, and high expectations. She looks forward to partnering with the ULS community to support both teacher development and student success.
She lives in Baton Rouge with her husband, Adam, and their two rescue dogs, Sawyer and Stella.
Dr. Kimberly Tyler
Assistant Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction
Dr. Kimberly Tyler has dedicated over 30 years of her career advancing excellence in K–12 and higher education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University, a Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Gifted Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership and her administrative credentials from the College of William and Mary. Her professional experience spans many years as both a classroom teacher and gifted specialist, as well as serving as a professor in Texas and Louisiana, where she has prepared future K–12 educators and supported graduate students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees.
As an educational leader, Dr. Tyler has partnered with public and independent school districts to develop and implement high-impact visions for learning that drive student achievement. Through leadership team collaboration, she has helped align district goals with state standards and educational priorities while supporting continuous school improvement efforts. Her expertise includes curriculum design, differentiation strategies, instructional leadership, and professional development. She is passionate about helping educators translate research into effective classroom practices that promote rigorous instruction, equitable learning opportunities, and meaningful student growth.
Lance Burgos
Head of Athletics
Lance Burgos is a dynamic executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience in college athletics specializing in multimedia rights, athletics administration, corporate partnerships, strategic sales, and business development. Throughout his career he has built a reputation for driving revenue growth, cultivating high impact relationships and leading high performing teams across the sports and technology industries.
Currently serving as Regional Vice President at Athlete Advantage, Burgos leads strategic revenue initiatives overseeing key collegiate and brand partnerships throughout the state and Southeast. His work focuses on delivering innovative revenue solutions while strengthening relationships with university stakeholders and corporate partners.
Burgos has spent the bulk of his career in collegiate athletics with LSU Sports Properties, ultimately serving as the General Manager. During his tenure he oversaw multimedia rights, corporate sponsorships, radio and television partnerships, digital assets, licensing initiatives, and liaison with all revenue producing sports for LSU athletics. Under his leadership, the organization achieved record-setting sponsorship performance and strengthened relationships with coaches, administrators, and the business community of LSU Athletics.
Early in his career, Burgos served as General Sales Manager for Tulane Sports Properties where he helped Tulane build its corporate partnership program to reach annual benchmarks in meeting a 5-year growth plan before returning to Baton Rouge in 2005.
Burgos holds a Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the E.J. Ourso College of Business from Louisiana State University.
A native of Morgan City, LA where Burgos attended Central Catholic High School. He is an avid kayak angler and outdoorsman actively involved in community and conservation organizations in the region. Fluent in Spanish, Burgos is also a former co-host of Bayou Wild TV and field reporter for the Don Dubuc Outdoors Network advocating for the outdoors community. He enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and volunteers in prison ministry with St. Jude Catholic Church.
Burgos is married to Laurel Burgos originally from Madison County, VA. and the couple have a daughter Evan, and sons Olsen and Abel.
