We were excited to have our Theatre 1 & 2 classes, along with Thespian Troupe members, attend LSU Theatre’s performance of The Play That Goes Wrong last week. This fast-paced comedy follows a group of amateur actors attempting to stage a serious murder mystery—only for everything that can go wrong to do exactly that. From broken props and forgotten lines to collapsing sets and onstage mishaps, the cast’s determination to carry on creates a memorable and engaging theatrical experience.
Following the performance, our students were invited to participate in a talkback session with members of the cast and the set designer. They also had the opportunity to tour backstage, gaining insight into the technical elements that bring the production to life, including how the set was designed to “fall apart,” as well as the mechanics behind moving pieces and special effects.
It was a valuable experience filled with both learning and enjoyment for our students.
