Annual Appeal Message from the Chair

Dear Lab School Community,

Ask yourself this question…Is there anything more important to the success of your child’s education than the University Laboratory School community?

I don’t believe there is. My wife Mary Beth and I are both U-High alumni and as parents of three current cubs, Christian, William, and Elizabeth, we see each year more and more examples of what makes the Laboratory School a special place – commitment. Whether from students, faculty, staff or parents, the commitment to providing resources for the enrichment of our children’s minds and lives has continued to grow.

These resources come in many forms – time, knowledge, experience, and financial gifts. All of these are given in true cub tradition and as our school motto states “Total Effort in Every Endeavor”. The purpose of this letter is to express our thanks for your contributions and to ask for your continued commitment through the Annual Appeal.

The Annual Appeal is the financial lifeline of the school – directly affecting students by supporting classroom programs and projects in fine arts, library, physical education, technology & media, academic programs, and faculty development. It is the most critical fund-raising effort for the day-to-day business of a University Laboratory School education.

Last year, the response to the Annual Appeal was tremendous – and your child is benefiting today from that generosity. Please join us - our goal for the Annual Appeal is 100% participation. We value the importance of each and every gift, regardless of its size.

Volunteers will be reaching out this October to answer any questions you may have in hopes that you will make a contribution supporting the school’s most important appeal each year. Remember your contribution is tax-deductible and it may be a pledge, payable over calendar year 2008, or may be paid by check, credit card, or even gifts of stock.

You can insure that the University Laboratory School remains a laboratory of extraordinary discovery by Opening Minds and Opening Doors. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Keith Armstrong, ‘83
