It Takes a Village

During this unit we discussed:

The systems needed to support a community.

Traits and behaviour that positively impact the way a community works

Similarities and differences among various communities

The purposes and usefulness of a variety of maps.

We each made a map of our bedroom.  We then shared and explained them to one another.

William, Aleksander, and John Gordon search for a map key.

Skylar and Bailey share their maps!

Issac and Tyler use a compass rose to help them find north, south, east, and west.

Emma shows Ms. Bickham the map she made of her room.   These girls share their maps with one another.

Anna, Chloe, Briana, and Skylar paint "buildings" to use later on their maps.

John Edward and Julia enjoy the map Madame Thompson brought of Belgium. They are using the map key to find out what the different symbols represent.

We made our own communities!

There were rural, urban, and suburban communities.

Emma is working on the map key. Anna and Christian B. put on the final touches.

This group is deciding where to put their roads.

Julia, Toriana, Taylor, and John Edward are working hard! Anna Claire, Spencer, and John Gordon put on the roads.

And now for the final   product...
