Elementary Division

The elementary division of the Laboratory School, together with the other divisions, has been designated by the state as a School of Academic Distinction.  We believe this is due to the commitment of our faculty and staff to meet the needs of our students on an individual basis.  We are proudest of the fact that all our students leave second grade at or above grade level.  The faculty and staff members of the elementary division are dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring educators who work tirelessly to provide an outstanding educational program.  Many of our instructors present workshops on innovative teaching techniques at many state and national workshops and conventions.  Our primary program is one of the finest in the state.  In addition, our students in kindergarten through fifth grade receive regular instruction in music, art, physical education, guidance, and foreign languages.  During the 2004-2005 school year, the elementary division was authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.  It is the first one in the state of Louisiana.  We invite you to visit our school to see the outstanding educational opportunities we offer.
